Recapping Our Volunteer Expo 2025

Another Successful Volunteering Expo

It’s May, the weather is getting colder and we’re celebrating National Volunteers Week so it’s time once again to recap our latest Volunteering Expo!

First off we would like to thank everyone who made our Volunteering Expo possible. We were absolutely blown away with the overwhelming positive feedback and turnout of the event. We know that none of this would be possible without help from Knox City Council and their supportive team members, along with the dedicated not-for-profit organisation stall holders.

With a much larger turnout than the previous year we’re seeing steady growth and we hope this translates to enthusiastic and willing volunteers. Our goal is ‘Connecting Communities’ to build a stronger, more inclusive and empowered community that is filled with purpose, connection and the joy of making a lasting difference.

So let’s get into the day!

The Expo brought together passionate community members, local not-for-profit organisations, and volunteers eager to make a difference. The event showcased a wide range of diverse volunteer opportunities from food relief, aged care, disability services, youth services, animals, tourism, education, emergency services, media and so much more!

We had a range of groups visit including Swinburne Migrant Students, Eastern Ranges School, Women’s Disability Hub as well as businesses looking for corporate volunteering opportunities. The room was a buzz with crowds of people gathered arounds stalls learning about organisation missions and matching this with their own interests and values.

Community groups shared activities such as chess, International Draughts, Knitting and our Community Art Mural was a big hit.

A highlight for us was that we had a couple of parents approach us and suggest their children volunteer with us to learn new skills and do a little bit of work experience. We welcome anyone who might not yet have many repair skills but are keen to shadow some of our expert repairers.

Thank you to local artist Savannah for creating our mural, the theme was all things volunteering and we think she hit the mark with an amazing design.

We asked the community to add a splash of colour to our community art mural and they did not disappoint.

From a black and white canvas to a vibrant masterpiece! Thank you to everyone that contributed to our fun community project. You all definitely brought volunteering to life!
We are proud to be funded by Knox City Council and we are grateful to have a council that believes in the positive impact of volunteering!

Thank you to our 43 Volunteer Involving Organisations for making your stalls so bright, vibrant and welcoming. It was wonderful to see our community engaging with each and every one of you! A special mention to our Knox community who have the biggest hearts. We applaud your desire to volunteer and hope that you have found your Volunteering family today!

Until next year!

SEE YOU IN 2026
